Bird Control

We are authorised to control Corvids (Crows, Rooks, Jackdaw, Magpie and Jays), Canada Geeses and Pigeons.

Corvids are a bird species that include Crows, Rooks, Jackdaw, Magpie and Jays.

These are intelligent and very destructive birds The natural diet of many corvid species is omnivorous, consisting of invertebrates, nestlings, small mammals, berries, fruits, seeds, and carrion. Those mainly effected include Farms, Estates and Parkland due to crop damage, Golf clubs where they root for insects and Sheep and game farms, due to predation

All the mentioned corvids are controlled under strict rules on general licence and subject to tight control methods, they are known to both injure or destroy songbirds or game bird nests and eggs, most are considered as an agricultural pest as they tend to congregate in very large  numbers and can cause serious crop damage, or injury to livestock and consume huge amounts of animal foodstuff, they cause major health and safety issues in and around urban surroundings.

I use either Shooting or Live cage trapping as appropriate.

Canada geese are a good looking bird but is now considered a pest in the UK,  and can  be culled with the appropriate licence. But just what are the reasons for this control

They are a large noisy bird that live near water so can often be found around ponds, lakes and water features on golf courses, parks and fisheries. Whilst they are herbivorous grazers, with grass and aquatic plants being their main natural food source'. Well maintained lawns are a favourite, because of the richness of the grass.

The practice of hounding humans for food is perhaps their most annoying trait and their aggressive nature can be quite frightening, especially for young children.

As well as aggressive one of the biggest areas of concern surrounds their excrement, which carries a wide variety of bacteria that can cause serious illness, including gastroenteritis.

The droppings will also kill grass.

I use trapping, shooting or egg oiling as appropriate.

Wood pigeons are controlled under licence as these are a major pest to farm land they cause massive amount of destruction to arable farms by eating large amounts of crops. They quickly get used to scarecrows and bangers so the only viable option is in the shooting of these birds.

Feral pigeons are found throughout the UK both in towns, cities and rural areas. These have the ability to breed all year-round causing flock numbers to increase at an alarming rate. Feral pigeons like to roost in building mainly barns or disused warehouses, bridges canopies and any other areas of shelter. The main reason for control; is the huge amounts of dropping these are both unsanitary and a major health risk. Ferals are mainly attracted to an easy food source.
